McClaren takes charge at Twente



Former England manager Steve McClaren has agreed to a two-yeardeal to coach Twente, according to a report on the Dutch firstdivision club's website on Friday.Twente will play in the UEFA Champions League next season,giving the 47-year-old McClaren a fresh challenge following hissacking in the wake of England's failure to qualify for theUEFA EURO 2008.McClaren said he had sought the advice of former England managerBobby Robson before deciding to agree terms on what is his firstcoaching job since leaving the England post."I got some advice from Bobby Robson, who told me that theDutch championship,euro shirts 2012, and the club,Ireland Euro 2012 Shirts, would be to my liking," saidMcClaren."It is a big challengefor me to compete with FC Twente in the Dutch league and theChampions League and I have the feeling we all will start theseason with a positive feeling."McClaren replaces Fred Rutten,Leverkusen Euro 2012 Shirts, who has agreed to coach Schalke04 in Germany's Bundesliga.Twente chairman Joop Munsterman said: "It is important thatFC Twente's technical policy will be continued."
